I had mixed feelings about the prop 8 ruling.  Mr. Poe and I continue to be married!  I'm happy about that but I wonder whether California bigots will try to screw us over via another ballot initiative.

I wasn't very pleased with how hard walking around was for me on Monday so I headed out Tuesday afternoon to see if it was going to be any easier.  Mimi and I headed over to Corbett which has recently had all its electrical wires moved underground and it looks great:

The view looking south from Corbett:

There are a number of superfantastic victorians:

The Corwin Steps have been recently redone and look pretty good:

This pretty deli on 17th has been closed for a while.  To bad for people who lived near it.  The next closest one is quite a climb up:

Mimi wondering why we're going so slow:

There's a pretty green space on Saturn at Lower Terrace:

This walk would have taken me about 15 minutes prior to my accident.  It took me an hour on Tuesday.  But not to worry..  I'm going to get there.

Mr. Poe is back in town.  Thank God for that.  I holed myself up in the house the entire time he was gone as I tend to do but since I'm still working at home recovering from surgery I've taken xenophobic isolationism to the next level.  But Monday rolled around and we decided to go out.  Mr. Poe needs a new cell phone.  He's been using his work phone for the last four years but he goes back to the classroom in the fall so he needed to get a new phone.  They couldn't help us at Radio Shack in the Castro because they weren't also selling us a phone.  I got him a Krazr from Cellular Blowout so all we needed was a sim card.  So we headed downtown on Muni.  I got a bunch of shots of Market Street:

The glamorous Palomar Hotel:

Fabulous detail:

Westfield Center:

Inside Westfield Center:

The AT&T store is a kiosk inside the Westfield Center.  I assumed that it was going to take a long time and be a total pain in the ass.  I was not disappointed.  There seems to be an intelligence ceiling for employees at that place.  But they finally got him set up and we headed home.  We took the N train and got off at Noe.  This is Duboce Park:

We headed down to Market where I ran into Russ and a few of his friends out and about.  Then I got a vegan cupcake and it was time to head home.  This is Mr. Poe at Bahgdad Cafe:

Me.  My hair is a complete nightmare at this point and it's gonna be another month before I'm going to be able to go,   Not good.:

I was really sore and tired when I went home.  This is the most time I've spent on my feet since the accident and it wasn't easy.  Standing seems to be a bigger issue than walking.  I've got a long way to go.

Monday, 18 May 2009

I managed to make it out of the house in the late afternoon with Mimi for a short walk.  We headed over to the Vulcan Steps so that I could take some pics.  It was very foggy which made the green gardens on the steps really pop:

Corona Heights:

Such a beautiful cottage.  I wouldn't want to live this far from the street.  I can't even imagine how they deal with groceries:

The view up the steps:

Mimi's wondering why we're going so slowly:

I need a haircut.  I look more bouffant-like every day:

Mr. Poe took me to Kaiser when he got home to pick up a prescription.  They're putting me on something a lot weaker than what I've been using.  Which will likely mean I won't need 12 hours of sleep a night anymore.  Things are looking up!

Sunday, May 17, 2009

It was hot on Sunday!  But not too hot--  it was perfect.  It had me a little down because I wish I was out riding.  I'm keeping myself focused on being back on my bike.  It's comforting.  I dragged Mr. Poe out to Diamond Heights and we hung out at Walter Haas Park.  Mr. Nick and I spent a lot of time up there back when I used to stay up past 8pm and we used to go on these epic evening walks all over the city.  I miss Mr. Nick and I miss the walks.  This park has beautiful views of the city:

Collingwood Hill:

Hello gorgeous!

The park also has great views south towards San Bruno Mountain:

I think this is Noe Valley:

Diamond Heights.  I guess my invitation to the birthday party was lost in the mail:

Me.  Note Big Southern Hair:

I got a nice shot of Twin Peaks as we headed home:

The dogs were completely wiped out  by the heat.  My little Ashley Jr. is getting a little chubby:

Our friends Richard and Ron came up from the peninsula to visit us and they hung out with Mr. Poe while I worked on my homework for my class.  When I finished, Nathan and Daniel came over for dinner.  How adorable is Daniel?:

Nathan is more geekilicious:

Mr. Poe's got his pork chop face on.  Because they had pork chops for dinner:

Nathan is one of the few humans that Mimi tolerates:

They headed home about 7:30 and then I read comic books in bed for a while and then went to sleep.  Fun day!
