I slept in again and just rode down Market into work.  Sigh.  I made it home for lunch and had a nice ride after work.  I wanted to put a little mileage in so I rode much the same route I'd ridden on Wednesday.  I rode Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Spruce to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I took JFK to Bernice Rodgers to MLK to the Great Highway and headed south.  I stopped at the foot of Sloat for pics.  It was a little gloomy:

Me:

I took Sloat to Skyline to Lake Merced to Font to Holloway.  I stopped on Holloway at about Victoria and got a pic of the gloom:

I continued on Holloway to Harold to Ocean to Phelan.  They're doing a lot of construction at City College this summer.  They got a lot of bond money to pay for quite a few new facilities.  In an interesting paradox, they canceled summer school because they didn't have the money.  Here, the fabulous Benny Bufano sculpture is boxed while they work on the lawn:

I'm not sure what this new building is for.  It's on the edge of an old reservoir and there's a steep drop off behind it which is why it kind of looks like a cargo ship in port:

I continued on Phelan to Judson to Foerster to Hearst to Edna to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 18th to Eureka to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.   Mr. Poe's leaving on Friday and the dogs are already upset about it.  Luggage is a terrible omen to dogs...

I couldn't drag my ass out of bed in the morning so I just came down Market into work and then I headed home for lunch.  After work I went on an Seismic Challenge training ride.  I had meant to be on the Different Spokes Meet 'n Greet ride but got confused on the start and ended up riding with my friends Eric and Joel.  We headed around Lake Merced and the weather was gorgeous at the beach.  Warm, sunny-- perfect!  I got home a little before 8 and had dinner and went to bed.

I continued on Washington to Broderick to Jackson to Gough to Pacific to Polk to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  I discovered, much to my delight, that I can get the new Scooby Doo series on Itunes.  Best $2.99 I ever spent!

I managed to get up on time this morning and went for a nice ride before work.  I took Corbett to Portola to Evelyn to Teresita to Arroyo to Bella Vista to Burlwood to Los Palmos to Hazelwood to Yerba Buena to Brentwood to Maywood to El Verano into Northgate to Darien.  This pretty home is on Darien near San Aleso (I think)

I continued on Darien to San Fernando to Ocean to Clearfield to 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente to the Great Highway and up the coast.  I went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and took that to Middle to Transverse to JFK to the Panhandle to Baker to McAllister to Pierce.  This is an eccentric Victorian building in Alamo Square on Pierce.  It has a lot of unusual detail:

Across the street from it is this super fantastic deco building.  It's amazing:

I took Pierce to Golden Gate.  There's a bunch of incredible buildings on Golden Gate at Steiner:

I continued on Golden Gate to Steiner to Post.  Japantown looked pretty even on this gloomy morning:

Me:

I continued on Post to Grant.  This is Chinatown as seen from Grant at Sacramento:

I continued on Grant to Clay to Sansome and into work.

Predictably, I slept in on Monday morning and just came down Market into work.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a nice ride after work.  I rode down Sutter where I saw this blah Victorian with terrible siding at the corner of Divisadero.

But I loved the sign.  How old does that have to be??

A little further down Sutter is the Russian Center.  A very handsome building with nice detail:

A nice lady told me that the real gem with the Russian Center were the old signs that were revealed when a parking garage next door was demolished.  Agreed:

I continued on Sutter to Presidio to Euclid to Arguello to Cabrillo to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I took JFK to Bernice Rodgers to MLK to La Playa to Irving to the Great Highway and headed down the coast.  I stopped at the foot of Sloat for pics of the gloomy afternoon:

Me:

I took Sloat to Skyline to Lake Merced to Winston to Cerritos to Moncada to Urbano.  This is pretty Urbano Street in the Ingleside:

I continued on Urbano to Pico to Ashton to De Montefort to Miramar to Southwood to Plymouth to Greenwood to Hazelwood to Flood to Foerster to Edna to Monterey to Diamond to Wilder to Arlington to Randall to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 18th.  This is pretty Mission High on Valencia at 18th:

I continued on 18th to Diamond to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  We took the dogs for a long walk after dinner and then we went to bed.  I was beat.

Sunday I led a  Different Spokes Ride out to Nicasio.  It was the longest ride I'd done since the Lifecycle.  Eeeeek!  I've been so lazy since the ride.  This was brought home to me on Friday when a tactless coworker commented "Ah--  I see you've been eating more!".  But Sunday I headed out to Nicasio with my friend Cameron and it was a nice day albeit very windy.  We met a rider named Vanessa in Fairfax and headed around to the reservoir.  It was a little foggy up there but still very pretty:

I got home a little after 3:00.  I had a big bowl of leftover gumbo which was most certainly better on day 2 and then got cleaned up and we went to go see Mr. Chris.  They've gotten a new puppy--  a Portugese Water Dog female and they're still working on the name.  She's so sweet!  She sat in my lap the whole time we were over there.  She's gonna be a wonderful dog.

Saturday I managed to get my ass out of bed and I took Rufus for a long walk in the morning.  First we headed over to Golden Gate Park.  We walked through the AIDS Memorial Grove and over to the Music Concourse.  This is the California Academy of Sciences:

The Band Shell:

Nice Detail:

Then we headed over to Stow Lake.  I love the Chinese Pavilion on the island in the center of the lake:

Rufus loves to go!

There are two bridges that go to the island.  This is the older one:

From there we left the park and headed into the Sunset.  We stopped a the glamorous Sunset Library for pics:

Then we headed up to Sunset Heights.  I was happy that it was so foggy because the fabulous Moraga Steps don't photograph well in the sunlight:

The view from Grand View Park:

We walked through Forest Hill and then up to Portola and headed home down Corbett.  Rufus was completely exhausted and slept for the rest of the day.  Ashley Junior doesn't need an excuse to nap and curled up next to him.  Adorable:

We had Nathan, Daniel, and Mr Chris over for dinner Saturday night.  I've been working on a vegan interpretation of Gumbo.  It's a roux based vegetable stew served over rice.  I'm calling it "Mumbo" to avoid offending Louisiana cooks.  I had the idea of cooking andouille sausage and shrimp separately and serving that as a topping so that the non vegans could have meat in theirs.  That turned out pretty well too.  The next time I make it I'm making it a day ahead so it can rest.  I put a lot of spicy things in it and I think it needed a day for everything to mellow.  It was the first time I used our new Le Creuset pot and I love it.  It's the best for making roux because the inside of it is basically the same color as flour so you can really see how brown it's getting.  Likey!

After work I headed off Howard to 11th to Bryant to Precita.  I love the murals on this building in Precita Park:

Great detail:

This nasty car was parked out front of the building.  Gross:

I continued on Precita to Mission to Richland to Arlington to Wilder to Diamond to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood.  I stopped at Wildwood and Miramar for pics.  Westwood Park is a very pretty neighborhood:

I continued on Wildwood to Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Pico to Urbano to Moncada to Cerritos to Winston to Buckingham to 20th to Ocean to Clearfield to 34th to Yorba to 35th to Vicente to the Great Highway.  I stopped for some pics at the beach:

I continued on the Great Highway and went into Golden Gate Park at MLK and took that to Middle to Transverse to JFK to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Noe to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.
