Wednesday I came into work Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into work.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a nice ride after work.  I headed down Sansome and got a nice pic of the Christmas lights on Jackson:

I continued on Sansome to Pacific and stopped for pics looking west up Pacific:

And down Kearny:

I continued on Pacific to Fillmore to Jackson to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway to Taravel to Merced to Hernandez to Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett to Ord and home for dinner.

Mr. Poe had a school board meeting so I made dinner for the dogs and myself.  I got very, very pissed when I read this--  apparently they're closing the west side of the Golden Gate Bridge AGAIN from January to April.  I'm hoping that it's very poorly worded and it will be open on weekends.  It just doesn't work to have pedestrians and bikes on the same side of the bridge.  It's too crowded, it's dangerous, and it's a huge legal risk for the bikers because any bicycle - pedestrian accident on the bridge is automatically going to be the biker's fault because they are a moving vehicle and a pedestrian is not.  I don't know it's going to impact my Lifecycle group but it isn't gonna be pretty.  For my Saturday rides, I'm going to make Mr. Poe drive home on weekends for the duration so he has his car and I can take the truck.  Developing.

Tuesday I came into work Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome.  I headed home for lunch and got some pics of the dogs.  Here's Rufus standing a little too close to the Christmas tree:

So very, very handsome:

Here are the dogs waiting for Poodie Claus.  Poodie Claus is the magical Chrismas Poodle that brings yummy snacks for all the dogs on Chistmas day.  He doesn't get all up in your business like Santa with naughty this and nice that and all that relentless list making, checking, and rechecking-- like Santa is a Chrismas auditor or something.  Poodie Claus has snacks for every dog!:

These are the bundt cakes I made Monday night all sugared and ready for delivery to the neighbors:

This was the view from our front porch.  We're letting the vines grow down to block the view of an ugly house across the street.  It will also spare the neighbors the view of me running around the house starkers in the morning trying to get ready:

Mr. Poe's keeping the vines trimmed on the view side, however:

After work I headed down 2nd and got a nice pic of the pretty buildings at Mission and 2nd:

I continued on 2nd to 11th to Bryant to 24th to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Monterey to Ridgewood to Flood to Hazelwood to Greenwood to Plymouth to Wildwood to Faxon.  I can report that Westwood Park has the best Christmas decorations in the city that I've seen so far.  I continued on Faxon to De Montefort to Ashton to Pico to Urbano to Moncado to Cerritos to Winston to 20th to Eucalyptus to 21st to Ocean to Clearfield into 34th to Yorba to Crestlake to Wawona to 33rd to Vicente to 17th to Taravel to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Hugo to 3rd to Frederick to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Castro to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.

I had little work to finish up after dinner and then I wrapped Mr. Poe's Christmas presents.  I found this fabulous Hello Kitty Christmas paper (so kawaii!) at the Target and it looks fantastic with the pink and silver theme we've got going on the tree this year.  It may look like a lot of presents, but shopping for Mr. Poe is very, very easy because he refuses to buy himself anything at all.  So he always needs tons of stuff.  Also, he really likes having and opening presents so each package only contains on item.  He will likely spread the present opening over many days and likely there will still be presents under the tree in January when the tree comes down.  I love Mr. Poe.  His strangeness is so adorable.

I got all the wrapping paper mess cleaned up and I went to bed.

Monday it was wet in the morning so I came in on Muni.  Here I am on Douglass Street wearing my rainy day sunglasses:

After work I continued with my holiday baking.  I made some bundt cakes to give as gifts.  Sadly, I didn't pay enough attention when I was making them because the recipe was for a 12 cup pan and the ones I used were 10 so about 45 minutes into the baking there was a horrible chocolate overflow.  Yuck.  Mr. Poe was apoplectic as was to be expected.  Luckily, I had ordered us dinner from Big Lantern and he has a hard time staying angry when he's got a belly full of fried calamari.  We got the mess cleaned up and let the cakes finish baking.  They look beautiful-- I hope they taste good.  I don't see how they could be bad since they each have two sticks of butter in them. Here they are although they still need to be sugared:

I had a little work to finish up and then I went to bed.

Sunday I led a ride for Different Spokes.  Nobody showed up and it was just me but that's OK.  I headed out to Cheese Factory.  I had originally intended to go to Point Reyes Station after that but the weather was looking potentially wet and I didn't want to have to ride home from Point Reyes Station in the rain so I cut over to Novato and then down to San Rafael for lunch before heading home.  I had a lot of fun and I felt a lot stronger than I did the week before when my Lucas Valley ride left me dazed and confused.  I made it home a little earlier than I'd expected and helped Mr. Poe around the house before going to bed.  At 7:30.  I couldn't make it any later than that.  Note that this was the first time my weekly mileage went over 200 since the Lifecycle.  Which is kind of sad but at least I'm getting back there.

This boat in Sausalito is all decked out for Christmas:

The San Francisco skyline as seen from Sausalito:

The weather was starting to look a little ominous by the time I got to the Cheese Factory:

The place was overrun with Canadian geese.  You can tell they're Canadian because they're eating ketchup flavored chips and they all have health care:

I slipped on the gravel as I was getting back on my bike in the Cheese Factory parking lot and totally fell on my ass.  So embarrassing.  And in front of people.  I headed over to Stafford Lake which looked gorgeous:

Then I made my way to San Rafael for lunch at Chipotle.  Then I headed home.  This is the view of pretty Shady Lane in San Anselmo:

I headed home and got cleaned up and ready for dinner.  It was a good day.

Saturday was the monthly Different Spokes Jersey Ride.  It was cold but sunny and dry and we had a great time.  We rode Tiburon Loop in the opposite direction we usually do and then had lunch at Cafe Del Soul.  I think we should always go in that direction because then we're with riders on the short route all the way into Tiburon and I like the food at Cafe Del Soul much much better than anything I've had in Tiburon.

Here's the gang at the Golden Gate Bridge getting ready for ride out:

This is the back side of Tiburon as seen from Beach Road.  So pretty:

We got home late in the afternoon and I got ready for the Different Spokes Christmas party at Chris Contos's house.  It was a fun party and I had a good time.  The DSSF boys are pretty rowdy and I approve of that.  I baked this cake--  sour cream pound cake with butterscotch chips in it baked in the "gothic cathedral" mold.  Pretty:

We got home around 8:30.  I had a ride on the calendar the next day and I needed the sleep!

I was planning on riding all weekend so I came into work on Muni on Friday.  I got a couple pics of the crazily oversized Christmas ornaments at 101 California on my way home:

I got a bunch of stuff from Amazon for holiday baking.  I got a couple more bundt pans because they turn out so great and Mr. Poe likes them a lot.  I also ended up with some Spanish Saffron which is going to find its way into a bunch of stuff this year and some Korean Chili paste which I'm still thinking of uses for.  Stay tuned!

Thursday I didn't spend a lot of time on the bike.  I came into work Market to 14th and stopped at Guerrero for a pic of this awesome building.  I remember loving it when it was being constructed and I haven't changed my opinion since.  They also have an enormous Christmas tree. All good:

I continued on 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into work.  I didn't make it home for lunch and headed home up Market at the end of the day.  I started my holiday baking when I got home.  Sadly, I forgot to take pics.  Mr. Poe had to work late so I got us food from Big Lantern.  I had a green bean and tofu thing that was good not great and I got Mr. Poe Fried Calamari and some fish thing that he liked a lot.  I was in bed before 9.  Again.

Wednesday I came down Market into work.  I was wondering if the cold weather had resulted in fewer bikes on Market.  Not so much.  There were still too many bikes, buses, pedestrians, train tracks, and crackheads.  Note to self.  I headed home for lunch and then went for a nice ride after work.  I headed off down Pacific and stopped at Columbus for a blurry pic of the view down Kearny:

I continued on Pacific to Fillmore to Jackson to Presidio to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 8th and into Golden Gate Park.  I headed past the Music Concourse and then took MLK to 9th to Judah to 7th into Laguna Honda to Dewey to Claremont to Portola to Santa Clara into Monterey to San Jose to Duncan to Valencia to 18th to Eureka to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Chris called at about 8PM and was making fun of me because I was so obviously half asleep.  I was in bed by 8:30.

Tuesday I came into work Market to Laguna to McAllister to Larkin to Golden Gate to Leavenworth to Post to Kearny to Bush to Sansome.  I didn't go home for lunch.  I had some Christmas shopping to do so I headed over to Union Square.  Macy has puppies and kittens from the SPCA in the window.  The SPCA lady there was telling me they place 300 or so animals from the Macy windows every year.  Adorable:

I walked back to work down Mission and stopped at the Metreon for a pic of the pretty garden.  It was a little cool for lounging in my opinion, but clearly many disagreed:

There's a large square in front of the Jewish Museum which is becoming very popular as well:

After work I headed off Sutter to Fillmore to Clay to Spruce to Washington to Arguello to Lake to 23rd to Cabrillo to 47th to Fulton to the Great Highway to Kirkham to 7th into Laguna Honda to Portola to Corbett and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe made me Chinese noodles.

I think I'm finally over the hump at work and, anticipating a shorter than 14 hour day, I came into the office Market to 14th to Folsom to 2nd to Market to Sansome and into the office.  I even headed home on the bike for lunch.  I got a nice pic of the Phelan Building gleaming in the crisp sunshine:

I got this pic looking down Market from Sanchez.  The palm trees are all Christmas'd up:

I got some pics of some of the beloved F line street cars all decked out for Christmas on my way back to the office down Market:

After work I headed down Sansome Street and got a couple of pics of the buildings:

I headed to 2nd to Howard and got a shot of the last bit of sunset:

I took Howard to 11th to Harrison to 23rd to Valencia to Tiffany to 29th to San Jose to Monterey into Santa Clara to Portola to Claremont to Dewey to Laguna Honda into 7th to Hugo to 3rd to Frederick to Stanyan to Page to Scott to Duboce to Noe to Market to 17th to Ord and home for dinner.  Mr. Poe was baking Christmas biscotti.  I'm way way way behind on my holiday baking.  I didn't make a gingerbread house this year and I likely won't at this point.  But I gotta bake cookies.

Sunday I helped out on the World AIDS Day ride.  I came up with the route which I hope was an improvement over last year and I swept with Buz.  Mr. Poe worked the rest stop for us as a reward I got Thai food delivered from Thailand Restaurant in the Castro for dinner and he had shrimp stuffed with crabmeat, batter dipped and deep fried.  Is there a Thai Paula Deen somewhere??  He ate them so quickly I was thinking I should have gotten him two orders.  The ride went pretty well.  Any ride in the city is gonna involve a lot of turns and I hope people didn't get to lost.  Buz and got El Toro burritos toward the end of the day and sadly we had to eat them too quickly because we were in a hurry so we didn't so much savor as we did swallow.  But they were still delicious.  My favorite rider was the one who wasn't paying enough attention and didn't realize that Mr. Poe was my partner and started talking to him about how hot I was and how he wanted a piece of that.  Mr Poe, who is a jerk by the way, totally made him feel uncomfortable (which I would have done) but didn't let him off the hook and tell him that he found the whole thing hilarious (which he should have done).

Mr. Poe as in charge of the camera and took all these pictures of me explaining the route.  It's like my Evita moment:

Pictured of our glamorous crowd.  We had a great turnout--  it looked like it was almost 100 riders to me:

Mr. Poe also took a bunch of pics of the rideout.  We were a good looking group:

Finally, Buzz and I:
