Friday we had a big storm so I put on my inclement weather realness and headed down into work on Muni.  I went to my spin class mid day and the guys was a huge jerk which was kind of hilarious.  After work there was no walk for me so I headed over to go visit Mr. Chris and David and then we went to Blush in the Castro.  We ran into Mr. Poe on Muni so he came with us.  Here's a rare pic of Mr. Poe and I out for cocktails on a Friday night:

We went and got go food and then headed home and waited for our houseguest Brendan to show.  Then I got cleaned up and went to bed.

We've had some rain in the bay area this week and I've been spending a lot of time in the gym.  I'm looking forward to riding outside this weekend so fingers crossed that's gonna happen.  Wednesday and Thursday I went to spinning classes so at least I'm keeping that up.  My body has gone into Lifecycle training mode and has concluded that it wants to be awake 4:30-8:30 or so.  I'm pretty much OK with that.  I love getting up early and nothing savory ever happens late at night.

Thursday I woke up hungry at 3:45 and elected to stay up.  I decided to walk to work and thought about heading up to Grand View Park but halfway there I noticed I'd left my wallet at home so I had to go back which wasn't such a disaster because it had also been raining pretty much the whole time.  The weather was clearing by the time I got home so I stopped for a snack and then walked to work down Market stopping for pics of some of the amazing new buildings that have gone up recently.

It got pretty grim with the homeless once I got to Van Ness but I continued on to work.  I headed to the gym over lunch and then came home a little early to run errands.  I noticed this tree in bloom on 17th st.  So pretty:

I went and dropped off our taxes and then headed up to visit Courtney and baby Evelyn.  So pretty!  And she's beginning to be delighted by everything which is adorable:

I headed home for dinner and then got ready for bed.

Monday was walk2werq Monday and I had a fine walk over Lone Mountain and through Presidio and then Pacific Heights.  The sun was just starting to come up as I reached the USF campus.  San Ignatius:

I saw this carpet display on Geary.  I don't even know where to start making fun of this:

I headed over to Lombard and its famously twisting street:

I headed over to North Beach and into work.  I went home for lunch and then took a spin class after work.  I was mighty beat by the time I got home.

Sunday I led an ALC ride out to Lagunitas.  The weather was gorgeous mid day and I think we all had a good time.  It's kind of amazing that the mileage is already so high and it's still only February but the Lifecycle's only three months away!  I didn't get a lot of pics I gotta work on that.

Joe and I:

Buz and Thor:

I brought Mr. Poe shawerma again and I was again delighted by the falafel from the place on 18th and Castro.  I got home pretty late so I finished dinner and got cleaned up and it was already time for work.  I think we've got more wet weather coming next week so I'm gonna love it this weather while I can.

Saturday I led a Different Spokes ride out to Inverness and then down to Pan Toll.  I haven't chosen Inverness as a lunch stop before but I'm getting so sick of how gross the picnic area in Point Reyes Station is so I'm looking for alternatives.  Perry's in Inverness is a whole lot fancier than the one in Fairfax and David had a big bowl of fish stew that they made to order for him.  Swank!  From there, we headed down to Stinson Beach and then up to Pan Toll.  I could really feel the lack of cycling the last couple miles of that climb.  I was a sweaty, nauseous, crampy mess by the time I got to Pan Toll and then headed home.  I stopped by the new falafel place and 18th and Castro and can report that their food is fucking delicious.  I can't imagine what kind of trouble I could get into that wouldn't be remedied by bringing Mr. Poe more of their shawerma.  I headed home for dinner and then got cleaned up and was in bed by 9PM.  Here are the pics I took:

This is the view from Perry's in Inverness:

There's a junk store next to Perry's and I was dazzled by their lack of taste.  It wasn't all bad, I saw some pretty ceramics that might end up near the water feature Mr. Poe's building in the garden.  It won't be this:

We headed down on the 1 and the tide was way out in Bolinas Lagoon:

This was the view about a third of the way up to Pan Toll:

It was a fabulous day.  I'm looking forward to longer days and more mileage.

I spent Wednesday and Thursday getting everything sorted after being out of town.  Thursday night I was back in the gym and I was really happy about that because I slept for the first time in over a week.  Friday I came in on Muni and went to my spin class over lunch.  The guys wasn't so douchey this time but the class was pretty weak.  I managed to get a reasonable workout but only just barely.  I headed out after work and walked around Union Square.  I went into the brand new Valentino store and oogled it's amazing terrazzo walls and exquisitely crafted clothing.  Amazing super fantastic things.  Here I am on the top floor men's department:

I went into Bulgari to look at shiny things but didn't linger as I was the only customer to ten or so employees.  Then I headed back to the Financial District and met Miss Smith for a walk.  We headed up over Telegraph Hill and I got a nice pic at the top"

We headed over to the Vallejo Steps and climbed Russian Hill.  Fantastic views:

We went and picked up a bonanza of fried food and took it back to Nathan's.  We hung out for a while and then I went home to feed the dogs.   Mr. Poe was at a movie so I got cleaned up and we waited for him to get home.

Tuesday we headed to Celebration for a meeting and then went downtown for breakfast after.  It took us an hour and a half for us to drive the 20 or so miles there.  Traffic in central Florida is a complete nightmare as development seems to precede infrastructure by decades.  It sucks.  Celebration is pretty nice.  It's a planned community that Disney built but instead of a consistent architectural style, Celebration is built in a number of 20th century styles to make it look like it's a small town that developed rather than a resort town that was built from scratch.  It's impeccably done and seems to not come off as a pastiche.  Lovely:

This is Mr. Poe with my mom's dog Kissy.  Who is as sweet as she looks.  Unless she's guarding her cookie.  Than watch out!

We headed to the airport for a flight home.  I think the stress of the whole weekend caught up to me by then but I was NOT FUN TO BE AROUND for the rest of the day.  I've apologized to Mr. Poe and he's going to be gracious and not bring it up again and again for the rest of my life.  We got back to San Francisco on time and Mr. Criss came and collected us.  Then we headed home and we went to bed.  It had been a long fucking day.

Monday, February 17, 2014

Monday we got up and went golfing again at a short course at the Omni Hotel in Orlando.  The golf course was fun.  None of the holes were longer than 100 yards so the fact that I sucked so hard wasn't such an issue.  The hotel is fairly nice--  almost perfect, really, except that the details on everything seemed to be just a little bit off and it smacked of the cheapness.  It must be hard to compete with Disney that is famously on point all the time.

We had dinner at the hotel after golf.  The completely empty sports bar is pretty good.  After, we headed home.  It was a long day.

Sunday I managed to get a few pics of the koi pond in my Mom's lanai.  It's really pretty.  She's got two cats and they're mesmerized by it.  Sadly, they pretty much hid the whole time we were there.  Here's the pond:

Another one with my Mom working in her garden:

The dogs, Chica and Kissy:

Chica's very old and is at that age where she sleeps all day which I love.  She also looks like Jabba the Hutt when she rolls over on her back:

I made this for brunch.  It's a savory bread pudding made with sausage and cornbread topped with cheese and baked til gold and bubbly.  Sadly, there was none for Chica:

We Played golf at a short 9 hole course in the afternoon.  I hadn't played in 30 years and was terrible but the course was pretty and the weather was nice so we had fun.  After, we headed home for dinner.  I'd made French Onion Soup the previous evening and served that with little pizzas.
