Sunday I was up early and out of the house by 6:30.  I headed off on foot and met Miss Smith at Caltrain for the trip down to Stanford.  On the way, I walked over Potrero Hill and Mission Bay.  I got a bunch of pics.  This recent mural is super fantastic:

Awesome new building in the Mission:

Another recent fabulous mural:

I stopped by SF General to get more pics of the Benny Bufano sculpture there.  I love it.  It's such a great combination of monolithic and primitive-- almost childlike in detail:

We got the 9:15 train down to Palo Alto and then headed to Stanford first:

The view from the fabulous tower:

The church at Stanford:

The last stop at Stanford was the museum to peruse the magnificent Rodin collection.  Rodin's Gates of Hell which really must be seen to be believed.  You don't get the feeling of movement in pics that it has in person with the demons launching themselves off of it.   It's just amazing:

This is a crappy pic of my favorite piece they have:

We headed into Palo Alto for a boozy lunch and then back on the train where I got massively motion sick and had to keep my eyes closed and head down for most of the trip.  Awful.  Still it was worth it. We had an amazing day.
