I had lots of fun with my brother's family while they were here for a week.  I got up early and went to the gym every morning and rode on a spin bike for 2 hours.  That amount of activity left me completely pliable for the rest of the day.  Mr. Poe came down with the flu Tuesday night and so they went to Berkeley without me but by Wednesday he was feeling better so we left him with the dogs and headed out to the zoo.  The kids had a good time, but our zoo is terrible.  It's in one of the coldest, drizzliest parts of the San Francisco and the older enclosures of the WPA facility seem very small for the size of the animals in them.  Here are the free range humans:

We went to the zoo on the L train because I thought it would take longer:

Friday we went down to the park at Devils Slide.  Highly recommended for guests.  It's cool and breezy but easy to walk around in and there's a lot to see.   We saw whales!

Then we headed down to Stanford to look around.  I love the gorgeous church there:

Saturday we met up with Miss Smith and headed to the De Young.  Mr. Poe had thankfully taken the kids to a movie.  I didn't like the Turner exhibit.  I'm not the hugest fan of painting and I'm especially not crazy about Turner but it's big and impressive so if you do like Turner you should go see it.  I've grown fond of the collection of African and Oceanic art that the De Young has, even though I can't always tell the difference between what's African and what's Oceanic:

Sunday Mr. Poe took the kids to the Academy of Sciences and Sam and Youngran and I went down to the Asian Art Museum to check out the contemporary Chinese painting:

These demons remind me of Ashley Jr and Mimi:

Monday I took them to the airport and they headed to Florida to see mom.  I met Mr. Poe in Fremont so we could drop off the car and we headed home on BART.  We had dinner early and then went to bed at 8.  It was an exhausting week.  The dogs are gonna sleep for a month.
